On my way to a 2012 Diabetes Blogger Summit

Scott Benner

Who am I? I'm a stay-at-home dad, a husband, a storyteller, a type I diabetes advocate and an author. I love my family, baseball and sitting in a dark movie theater with my wife Kelly and our children, Cole and Arden.

I've always loved to tell stories but I didn't begin to put the words I felt into written form until I started my blog 'Arden's Day' on August 16, 2007. Five years later I was writing my first book, "Life Is Short, Laundry Is Eternal'.

'Arden's Day' is a look at my daughter's life with type I diabetes from my perspective. A raw, honest reflection of what life is like when you live everyday with a chronic illness. Type I diabetes advocacy has been my passion since I learned how powerful and renewing sharing and community can be to people that live with a chronic illness.

'Life Is Short, Laundry Is Eternal' is my attempt to bring both men and women a look at the other side of their relationship. I began a new life as a stay-at-home dad in 2000 after our first child was born and my experiences have shown me aspects of family life that I never imagined existed.
